Advent 2022 - Introduction
November 27th marks the beginning of Advent.
Advent is not just a title for the four weeks before Christmas. We pray that you take the next 27 days to seriously, wholeheartedly, and fastidiously to engage with:
1. the strange and unexpected way that God sent the Messiah to His people;
2. to appreciate Jesus Christ in the fullness of His glory.
How often do you just sit and consider that in the person of Jesus Christ, the fullness of God's glory is on display?
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
—John 1:14
He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!”
— Luke 2:32
For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.
— Colossians 2:9
And that Jesus Christ is coming back in full display of God's glory?
For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.
— Matthew 16:27
If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.
—Luke 9:26
Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory.
—Luke 21:27
This month, we will be posting a weekly short meditation about Advent’s words – Hope, Peace, Joy and Love – to help you slow down and soak in God's glory.
Don't view this as just a way to prepare for Christmas. Look at Advent as a month-long celebration of the glory of God made accessible to you through the child He sent to us and who is coming again.
Here’s the low down on how we are organizing Advent.
Sundays
Every Advent Sunday we’ll be meeting live and online to reflect together on the week's message and word. We’ll also be posting a blog post with accompanying content on Instagram.
This year we decided to organize it in the following 4 steps:
Reading the Christmas story
Firstborn — Light candle
Watch The Bible Project
2-3 Meditation questions
Weekdays
Then, throughout the week we’re going to be following along with the Lectio 365 Advent Series app. Join along with us!
