Advent — Introduction

Today marks the beginning of Advent.

Advent is not just a title for the four weeks before Christmas. I pray that you take the next 27 days to seriously, wholeheartedly, and fastidiously to engage with:

1. the strange and unexpected way that God sent the Messiah to His people;

2. to appreciate Jesus Christ in the fullness of His glory.

How often do you just sit and consider that in the person of Jesus Christ, the fullness of God's glory is on display (John 1:14, Luke 2:32, Colossians 2:9)? And that Jesus Christ is coming back in full display of God's glory (Matthew 16:27, Luke 9:26, Luke 21:27)?

This month, we will be posting meditations, videos, songs, and scripture to help you slow down and soak in God's glory.

Don't view this as just a way to prepare for Christmas. Look at Advent as a month-long celebration of the glory of God made accessible to you through the child He sent to us and who is coming again.

Here’s the low down on how we are organizing Advent.

Each Sunday, we will be posting a two-part blog with accompanying content on Instagram.

The first part of the blog will include a BibleProject theme video, a passage of scripture, a song, and a series of questions to meditate on.

The second part of the blog will include a passage from the Gospel progressing through the story of the first coming of the Messiah accompanied by a song from Firstborn by Poor Bishop Hooper.

Here are links to each of the weekly blogs (they will become active on the corresponding Sunday of Advent):
